<image:title>Projects - Hope Ranch</image:title>
<image:caption>Palladian architecture with a contemporary eye was the focus for Simmons & Co. to collaborate with renowned architect Barry Berkus of B3 Architects. Extensive discussions with the clients resulted in precise placement for furniture and personal belongings. Historical authenticity referencing Thomas Jefferson's Monticello was applied to the details in the wainscoting, crown work, casings and cabinetry throughout this showcase home. Putting together a kitchen capable of large dinner parties and the needs of an extended family at Thanksgiving without losing the intimacy of the actively retired couple was no accident. Simmons & Co. was honored to detail the display cabinets to feature the clients' lifetime of collections, corporate accomplishments and a record of their family's love and achievements. <image:title>Projects - Riviera</image:title>
<image:caption>A classic Santa Barbara Riviera Spanish Revival was the backdrop for a timeless design to appear as if Lutah Maria Riggs had just left the room. Working with the contractor, we designed the plaster hood surround and detailed the corner fireplace to match. Modern conveniences hidden behind impeccable joinery made a cozy kitchen space very efficient and pleasing to the senses. Shoehorning in storage space was mandatory to make the kitchen work. The shallow depth base cabinets feature tilt out bins for pet food storage. The period tile selection balances color and styling, and was influenced by the client's color choice for the cabinets. The Caesarstone countertop was chosen for neutral colored functionality so as not to visually conflict with the spectacular travertine stone farm sink. <image:title>Projects - Lake Sherwood</image:title>
<image:caption>French manor styling was the result of the client's love of all things French, down to the whimsical chandelier found in a little shop in Paris. The focus on a serious working kitchen required plenty of attention to detail while layering on the opulence. A teak butcher block island top will provide a lifetime of food preparation. Simmons & Co. designed a custom stainless hood with a proper slope. Authentic French hardware was locally plated in pewter. Generous pantry storage and the oven wall replaced an inefficient walk in pantry. For those chilly winter mornings, an authentic English coal fire basket adding both beauty and function with the tile selection and color coordination completing the "Interior Hardscape". </image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Montecito Cottage</image:title>
<image:caption>Simmons & Co. worked alongside local designer, Micholyn Brown, to give new life to this 1880 cottage. While the home was rich with character, the task was to bring today's modern amenities to the kitchen while not being formulaic about it. Euro styled cabinetry was used with both painted and stainless finishes. The wall of stainless cabinetry features a beautiful curved front hood, cooktop and oven, with pullout pantry next to the stainless paneled refrigerator. The corner sink, a trademark of the cabinet manufacturer, features a gull wing styled pair of doors, which allows for better access to the adjoining cabinets. Long horizontal handles and clean lines bring the kitchen into this century. </image:caption>

<image:caption>With a view this beautiful, this contemporary kitchen allows for a direct sight line to the outdoors. Simmons & Co. worked with the architect early in the process to ensure that the technical details of this Euro styled kitchen would work with precision. The "J"-shaped Island features a raised bar, sink and dishwasher along with a curved front butcher block top. Arc lights illuminate the work surface at the cooking wall. The pillowed doors of Euro laminates compliment the contrasting cinnabar backsplash and doors flanking the curved face of the hood. The cooktop is nested in the ergonomically designed spill proof cooking well. The sky blue metallic painted shelves provide a horizontal display area. All photos by Mehosh Dziadzio</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Timeless Craftsman</image:title>
<image:caption>Originally built in 1914, this gracious Craftsman home was brought up to date as a spec project. The designer put her considerable skills to work and our task was to make it happen within a tight budget and time frame. The kitchen was expanded and a south facing window installed to take advantage of the city view. The green island and desk were finished in a custom color that was inspired by the multi colored tile backguard at the range. Period details with modern amenities have given the kitchen new life for its happy owners. Interior Design: Eileen Haber, CH Design Photos by Simmons & Co.</image:caption>

<image:caption>One of the challenges about contemporary design is the exactness of it. When corners are sharp, and square edges dominate, precision is a necessity. Dimensioning everything throughout the construction phase and reacting to it before the materials are cut and fabricated is the key to a successful outcome. The baths in this luxurious contemporary home feature smooth veneered cabinets that were wall mounted at a height to accommodate the vessel sinks and wall mounted faucetry.
